Funniest moment of the season thus far?

The funniest moment of the season thus far was when Greenie and I went rabbit hunting during the retreat. We found some discarded nets in the shed and pursued our hapless prey about a quarter-mile before it finally made its mistake. By venturing onto an open flat deck it limited its escapes or hiding places. As we stemmed onto the deck from opposite corners it suddenly became alert, realizing the peril of its situation. It made a dash along the house line towards Greenie's side, which was undoubtedly its undoing, as Greenie is a far quicker rabbit catcher than myself. Moving more quickly than I have seen in any of our ultimate games, Greenie cut off its intended line. I closed as the rabbit turned and began to bolt between us. I dove and brought my net crashing down over its head. Needless to say, we were both shocked, as we had no expectation of actually catching the beast. However, we were not as shocked as our rabbit, which a moment later fell to its side and lay motionless. I had heard that once caught a rabbit's heart beat so fast it would burst, but I had not believed the legend until that moment. Suddenly heart stricken that our game had resulted in the death of such an innocent creature, I disentangled my net and approached it to see if there was any hope of its survival. No sooner had I done this than the rabbit revealed its cunning ruse. It leapt to my shoulder, and I fell back in shock as it dashed away. Greenie burst out laughing as I hit the deck rather hard, but even I was smiling.

Runner up moment: scrat almost throwing a billiard ball through the window.

What's your favorite drill in practice?

As I am sure is the case with everyone, my favorite drill is dump sets.

Which teammate is most likely to be arrested in Italy and how?

Sonny, illegally crossing the train tracks.

How do you want Egg Boy to cook your eggs?

Sunnyside up.

It is a tie. Groundhog Day, because you fools never learn and Space Jam, self evident.

How did you start playing ultimate? (If you answered this question last year, make something up.)

It all started when Robby Merk introduced me to the sport freshman year in college, when I played on an IM team. After having a brief two year stint with rowing in college I was burnt out on sports and wanted to focus on school. It wasn't until my senior year of college, when many of my friends, who played ultimate, encouraged me to come out for the UCD women's team, that I played competitively.

If you didn't spend all your time playing ultimate, what would you be doing instead?

If I didn't spend my time playing ultimate, I would probably become consumed by some other sport possibly beach volleyball or maybe something creative such as painting. I like to work towards something bigger than myself and I think is why ultimate is so fun for me. I am able to join together with some awesome, hard-working, motivational people and accomplish great things.

What does Blue Diamond mean to you?

Blue Diamond was first discovered off the very tip of South Africa by a man entitled, Sir Adam Raty VI. He had traveled far and wide in search of this blue diamond that was rumored to be so beautiful, that it would win over the heart of any woman who laid eyes upon it. After trekking through treacherous jungles and scrapping by on a plant diet, true to his vegetarian beliefs, Sir Raty VI finally had the blue diamond within his grasp. So proud he was of finding this diamond, he began to dance in celebration. Unfortunately for Sir Raty VI, he tripped on a rock, which caused the blue diamond to lurch out of his hands and into the sky. Fearing that he had lost this precious gem he immediately turned his head upwards only to then have the blue diamond travel into his mouth and down to his stomach quicker than he could react. And with that Sir Adam Raty VI no longer had any chance of finding a lady.

I can eat 15 cookies, as long as a large amount of milk is provided with them. Milk is essential for quenching my thirst and provides me with great happiness.

Exactly 5-09.25. Jersey number 99! I'm fat and I get up big. December 21st; when the world was supposed to end, severely disappointed. I also recently discovered that I am a Triple Sagittarius.

How did you start playing ultimate? (If you answered this question last year, make something up.)

Freshman year in college. I signed up for all the Club Sports during orientation, even got persuaded to sign up for Men's Rowing. I wanted to walk-on to the NCAA Track & Field program at UC Davis, but they would have probably red-shirted me my first year. My roommate Brody reminded me of the first UC Davis Dogs Ultimate practice and after that I was hooked. I came into the sport not knowing anything about it, but in the end, I realized that Ultimate is a culmination of all my favorite sports. Even though I couldn't throw at all in the beginning, I enjoyed working tirelessly to see any bit of improvement in my game. Implementing critique and advice from experienced players and coaches definitely helped me even more.

If you didn't spend all your time playing ultimate, what would you be doing instead?

Probably have alot more time for my studies at Davis. I would also have more time to do outdoorsy things on the weekends like backpacking, going to different venues to rock climb, or slacklining over high plateaus. I enjoy reading books, economic/political articles, as well as scientific ones. That being said, I enjoy participating in discussions (similar topic breadth as above.) I also like to do some creative writing (short stories, poems) every now and then, along with drawing or painting. If I had a piano with me I would definitely play alot more. I love listening to music, writing music, and discovering new tunes. I enjoy doing anything with water, like swimming; definitely relaxes me, along with meditation and yoga. I still enjoy morning long runs. If I had more time I would definitely try getting back into martial arts again. And I try to hit the slopes to board when I can. I also enjoy trying new cuisines...which is basically eating alot and being fat.

What does Blue Diamond mean to you?

A diamond. Oh, it's blue. I'm guessing it should be large. Something most people can't afford. The same one that the stupid girl from the Titanic dropped into the ocean. Most of all, it's a pointless shiny stone with no real purpose other than being a pretty good cutting edge.

What other sports did you play before ultimate?

My main sport was soccer growing up. I also played tennis and golf, but only so I could play with my parents in their respective sports. I was good, but never played competitively besides soccer (and for a brief stint competitive ping pong). I've also got 4 years of high school marching band under my belt.

How did you start playing ultimate?

Dan Schneider (AP US History teacher at the time/ previous UCSB legend) recommended to my other brother Stephen to play pick-up ultimate at LPC as conditioning for high school soccer. I was a freshmen at the time, and I went along once or twice to condition for soccer as well. Stephen went on to have a great experience playing ultimate for UCSD. During my Junior year try-outs for soccer, I was cut and that subsequently ended my soccer career. My senior year, Allen Thoe (Math teacher/ UC Davis alumni) created a team for Foothill high school in Pleasanton. I saw the flier promoting the new team on my 18 birthday, which was a way better present than whatever my ex-girlfriend probably got me. Our team was very motivated to get better, and was very thankful to the Las Positas program for allowing us to practice with them to learn and improve.

What's your funniest Polar Bear moment/joke/memory?

Clay Miller paying for, and then falling asleep for every single minute once the movie started during "The Dark Knight Rises" besides the credits.

Once the movie was over and people were talking about it outside the theater, Tami said, "Wow that was truly an amazing movie". Clay replied with, "Yea, I can't wait to see it".

Four words. Fashionable & Never Pulls Out. Not to mention, relentless defense on the in-cut, a workhorse in the cup, infamous ups to bring down the big floaty ones, and a key motivational component in the huddle. He's got some pretty ok throws too.

Scott's high school ultimate coach stole him from the soccer team and was told tall-tales of college scholarships, mansions, fame, gold, referees, and increasing television popularity. The good life.

I can't play without my under armour spandex. At DUI, I thought I forgot to bring them so I went straight to a big five and bought a new pair. I then proceeded to find my under armour after games on saturday. MISTAKE. Aside from the spandex, you must have a bucket with a seat lid. They're so handy but beware, other people will start sitting on them. They're called floaters. BUY YOUR OWN BUCKET!

How did you start playing ultimate?

Allen Thoe, former Jam player and my former math teacher, created a club team my senior year of high school. My friend Ami asked me to join her because she was the only girl thus I decided to just check it out. I did not intend to play so I was unprepared, wearing my vans. I was really intrigued by Thoe's flick and wheel and made it a goal to learn the throws. After that, I just fell in love with the game.

What other sports did you play before ultimate?

Track and Field (Hurdles, 100, 200, 400, triple jump, long jump), basketball, cricket, acrobatics, and cheerleading.

Anything else you want to add?

Random Fact: I've been stung by a bee twice. Both times I got stung while playing ultimate. Talk about unfortunate!
